GEO for a B2B automotive manufacturer: 237K impressions in Google’s AI answers

JBM Group makes automotive components and electric buses. In the three months to September 2026 its site was shown 237K times inside Google’s generative AI features, around 2,600 times a day. Here is what that rests on, and how much of the headline comparison to believe.

The shift

The supplier shortlist is written before the search

Procurement teams and engineers increasingly open with a question, to an assistant or to Google’s AI answer. Who makes electric buses in India. Which companies supply a given component. The names in that answer become the shortlist, and it is drawn from sources the model can identify and quote with confidence.

In August we published what those answers were saying about JBM, and said plainly that there was no way to count it: Getting industrial brands named by AI search →. Search Console has since added a report that counts part of it.

What we did

Made the company easy to quote

  • Resolved the entity first. Complete Organization markup, one consistent name, and outside profiles that agree with each other. A model that cannot tell which company it is reading about will not name it.
  • Published specifics where there had been adjectives: capacity figures, market share, certifications, applications, part-level detail. ChatGPT’s answer on Indian bus makers repeats JBM’s installed capacity of 20,000 electric buses a year, which is only possible because that figure sits on a page in a form that can be lifted.
  • Made pages extractable, with question-shaped headings, a real hierarchy, lists instead of dense paragraphs, and structured data that says what the visitor sees.
  • Built depth where the category is decided, on model, application and specification pages written in the buyer’s language instead of the brochure’s.

None of this started from nothing. It sits on the search work that took JBM Group from 52,935 organic sessions a year to 329,261 in FY2024–25: JBM Group SEO case study →

What Search Console shows

Search Console’s Generative AI features report shows 237K impressions for jbmgroup.com over the last three months. That works out at roughly 2,600 a day, moving between about 1,600 and 3,700.

JBM Group GEO Case Study: Google Search Console Generative AI features report showing 237K impressions in three months
Google Search Console, jbmgroup.com, Generative AI features (Beta). The solid line is the last three months. The dotted line is all the earlier data the report holds.

The line has a weekly beat. It dips at regular intervals and recovers, which is what B2B search does when offices close. The peaks have crept up across the quarter while the troughs have stayed where they were.

What the report cannot show is the wording of the answers. For that we still rely on captures, and the ones we hold put JBM among the leaders in electric bus manufacturing in both Google’s AI Overview and ChatGPT.

The limits

What the number does not prove

  • 237K against 71.4K is not a threefold rise. The report goes back about four months in all, so the “previous 3 months” figure is really about one month of data. Day for day, impressions have moved from roughly 2,200 to roughly 2,600.
  • The report gives impressions only. It measures how often the site was shown inside an AI feature, not how many people came through.
  • An impression does not mean JBM was the first company named, or that the reader looked at it.
  • We cannot connect an AI impression to an enquiry. JBM’s enquiry growth is measured in Google Analytics over a different period, and we do not join the two.

Questions we get asked

About this work

What does the Generative AI features report measure?

It counts how often a site is shown within Google’s generative AI search features. It sits inside the Performance report in Search Console, is marked Beta, and on this property reports impressions.

Did JBM’s AI impressions really triple?

No. Search Console shows 237K against 71.4K, but the earlier figure covers about a month because the report only reaches back roughly four months. Compared day for day the rise is from about 2,200 to about 2,600.

Is GEO different for a manufacturer?

The raw material is different. A manufacturer has capacity, certifications, tolerances and applications, and those are exactly the kind of facts a model can attribute. The work is mostly getting them out of PDFs and brochure language and onto pages in a form that can be quoted.

Does being shown in an AI answer bring enquiries?

We cannot prove that it does, and we would be wary of anyone who says they can. What we can show is that the company is present where shortlists are now formed, and that its organic enquiries have grown over the same years.

Can we check this for our own company?

If the report appears in your Search Console property, yes. Open Performance and look for Generative AI features. Read the daily line before you read the comparison total.

Want to know if AI answers name your company?

We can look at what Search Console already reports for your site, and at which facts would need to be on your pages for a model to repeat them.
