An organic-led baseline for a manufacturer

Prem Cables manufactures aluminium conductors and power cables in India. In its first fully tracked year the site recorded 10,100 sessions, 97.4% of them from organic search, at a 65.56% engagement rate — the strongest of the three properties reviewed alongside it.

The challenge

Industrial buyers research before they enquire

Prem Cables makes aluminium conductors — AAC, ACSR, AAAC, HTLS — and a range of LT and HT XLPE power cables. DigiStreet redesigned the digital presence and built the organic programme.

Industrial procurement does not behave like consumer buying. A purchase manager or project engineer already knows what a conductor is; what they need is the specification, the standard it conforms to, and confidence the manufacturer can supply at their scale. If a site cannot answer those questions the visit ends — no form, no call, no second visit.

The requirement was a site that reads as technically credible to someone who knows the category better than the marketer writing about it.

What we did

Specification depth, not brochure copy

  • Product architecture matching the catalogue — separate indexable pages for each conductor and cable family rather than one products page listing everything, so each specification can rank for its own terminology.
  • Technical content written to the standards buyers search by, because an engineer searching a conformance standard needs to find the page that names it.
  • Full redesign and technical rebuild, covered in the web design case study, giving the content a fast, crawlable foundation.
  • Internal linking across product families, so a visitor researching one conductor type finds the adjacent options rather than leaving to compare elsewhere.

A strong first full year

Across 1 May 2025 to 31 May 2026 the site recorded 10,100 sessions, of which 9,841 (97.44%) came from organic search. Engagement rate reached 65.56% overall and 66.06% for organic visitors, with 6,622 engaged sessions.

Depth of visit is the more telling measure in an industrial category: 6.41 events per session and 64,790 total events, at an average 57 seconds per session. Visitors are working through specifications rather than bouncing off a landing page.

One honest qualification: this is a baseline year, not a growth figure. The GA4 property holds no comparable data for the preceding window, so there is no year-on-year percentage to quote. What the data establishes is a strong organic-led starting position against which future work can be measured.

Why it worked

Why engagement matters more than volume here

Ten thousand sessions is a modest number next to a consumer site. In industrial manufacturing it is the wrong thing to optimise. A single qualified enquiry from a transmission project or a distribution utility can be worth more than a hundred thousand consumer visits, so what matters is whether the right people arrive and whether they go deep.

A 65.56% engagement rate at 6.41 events per session says they do. The programme from here is coverage — more specification pages, more standards, more application content — because in this category every new page is another way for a specifying engineer to find the company.

Questions we get asked

About this engagement

What does good SEO look like for a manufacturer?

Depth over breadth. Manufacturers win organic traffic by publishing the specification detail buyers search for - grades, standards, conductor and cable types, applications - on individually indexable pages rather than one products page. The audience is small and technical, so a page answering one precise question well outperforms a general page mentioning everything.

Is 10,100 sessions a good result?

For a B2B manufacturer, yes - if engagement supports it. Consumer benchmarks mislead here: industrial categories have small, high-value audiences. A 65.56% engagement rate and 6.41 events per session indicate visitors are working through technical content, which is the behaviour that precedes an enquiry.

Why is there no year-on-year growth figure?

Because the GA4 property holds no data for the prior comparison window, so any percentage we quoted would be invented. This is a first full year of measurement and we present it as a baseline. Future reporting on this account will carry genuine year-on-year comparisons.

Why does almost all the traffic come from organic search?

Because that is where industrial buyers start, and because the programme has focused there. 97.4% organic shows the SEO foundation working. It also means dependence on a single channel, which is a reason to keep broadening topical coverage.

How long before a manufacturing site sees results?

Typically two to three quarters before meaningful organic volume - longer than consumer categories, because pages need genuine technical substance and often require engineering input. The upside is durability: specification content ages slowly and keeps earning traffic for years.
